Dr Ian J Duncan DPhil, FTSE, FAusIMM, FIEA, FAIE) | Non Executive Chairman
Dr Duncan’s industrial experience is diverse, commencing with mechanical engineering applied to Australian chemical, paper and mining industries. He joined Western Mining Corporation (WMC) in 1971 as Operations Manager, Exploration Division and had a 27 year career in WMC, retiring as General Manager of the large Olympic Dam copper, uranium, gold and silver operation in South Australia. Due to his involvement in uranium exploration, production and marketing over 25 years, he became familiar with the world’s nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear power technology. He is a former Chairman of the London based Uranium Institute (now the World Nuclear Association). His doctorate at University of Oxford addressed the interface between society and the disposal of radioactive waste. He is currently a specialist consultant in this field.
Michael Curnow | Non-Executive Director
Mr Curnow brings extensive experience in the resources sector in gold, platinum and mineral sands exploration to the Company. Mr Curnow was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and took up permanent residence in Australia in 1986. He has been involved in the ownership and management of a wide range of businesses, in both countries. In the past 3 years he has been a founding director of Gallery Gold Limited, AGR Limited and Adamus Resources Limited (ceased 2/8/2005).
Brett MitchellB Ec MAICD | Executive Director
Mr Mitchell has worked for both private and publicly listed entities for the past 15 years as a corporate finance executive. Mr Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Western Australia and has specific experience in the financial markets and resources sectors. Mr Mitchell is currently Executive Director and company secretary of Transerv Australia Limited and Energy Ventures Limited and Non Executive Director and Company Secretary of Nuenco NL.
Mr Alasdair Cooke BSc (Hons Geology) MAIG | Executive Director
Mr. Cooke has served as Chairman of the Board of the Company since incorporation. Mr Cooke is qualified as a geologist and has been involved throughout his career in mineral exploration and corporate development, including eight years spent with BHP Minerals Business Development Group and over ten years managing public resource companies. Mr Cooke is a founding partner of the Mitchell River Group, which over the past eight years has established a number of successful resources companies, including ASX listed Sally Malay Mining Ltd (operating the Sally Malay and Lanfranchie nickel projects in Australia), AIM and ASX listed Albidon Ltd (operating the Munali nickel project in Zambia), ASX listed Mirabela Nickel Ltd (developing the Santa Rita nickel project in Brazil), ASX listed Exco Resources Ltd (developing copper and gold resources in Australia) and ASX listed African Energy Resources (Guernsey) Ltd (developing uranium projects in Africa). Mr Cooke is a former director of Sally Malay Mining Ltd and is currently an Executive Director of African Energy Resources (Guernsey) Ltd, Energy Ventures Ltd, Albidon Ltd, Oval Biofuels Ltd and Exco Resources Ltd.
Mr Lachlan Reynolds BSc (Hons Geology), MAusIMM | Exploration Manager
Mr Reynolds is a geologist with over 17 years experience in mineral exploration, development projects and mining operations. Commencing his career with WMC Resources, Mr Reynolds has been involved in greenfield gold and nickel exploration projects in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia; resource development at the Ernest Henry copper-gold deposit (Queensland) and the Tampakan copper-gold deposit (Philippines); and supervision of near-mine exploration at the giant Olympic Dam copper-uranium-gold-silver mine in South Australia. Prior to joining Energy Ventures, Mr Reynolds held the senior position of Principal Exploration Geologist for Oceana Gold Corporation, managing exploration for the open pit and underground mines in the Macraes and Reefton Goldfields, New Zealand. Mr Reynolds will be providing technical expertise to the development of the company’s current uranium and iron-oxide copper gold exploration projects in Sweden and is responsible for generation of new exploration opportunities.
